Professionally staffed confidential offices

Each office in this section is a “Confidential Resource.” A campus employee who is a Confidential Resource does not have the Responsible Employee obligation of all other campus employees to notify OPHD (the Title IX office) upon learning of an incident of sexual harassment, sexual violence, or other violations of the UC Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment involving a UC Berkeley student (or, under certain circumstances, employees).

Employee Assistance

Provides free, confidential assessment, referral, and consultation services for UC Berkeley faculty, staff, visiting scholars, and postdoctoral appointees.

Staff Ombuds

Provides free, confidential conflict resolution and problem-solving services, including coaching and mediation, to all staff, non-Senate academics, as well as faculty who perform staff management functions.

Ombuds Office for Students and Postdoctoral Appointees

Provides confidential conflict resolution services, coaching, referrals, clarifying policies and procedures. Empowers students and postdoctoral appointees to make informed decisions with the goal of resolutions that meet their needs. 

PATH to Care

Survivor Support Team: offers affirming, empowering, confidential support for students, faculty, staff, postdocs who have experienced sexual violence, harassment, or stalking.

Prevention Team: provides consulting and trainings to support department-level prevention of SVSH: sexual harassment prevention toolkit; bystander intervention; procedural, structural & environmental changes; norms messaging; & train-the-trainer.

Office of the Vice Provost for the Faculty

Oversees academic personnel cases, faculty conduct, and faculty welfare, including programs that help faculty members advance their careers while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. 

Office for Faculty Equity & Welfare

Consultation and workshops on issues important to faculty welfare

Faculty Diversity Initiatives

Consulting, facilitation and training to faculty and departments on equity, inclusion and diversity 

SVSH Advisor

Consults with academic units on preventing sexual harassment and situation management.

Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (OPHD)

The campus Title IX office; receives and addresses reports of discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence. Works with supervisors on early resolution and preventive measures.

People & Culture (formerly Central Human Resources)

Provides consultation to managers in need of support to address conflict in the workplace.  Conducts workplace investigations of bullying; assists with the disciplinary process.

Faculty peer resources

Faculty Link mentors

As part of a new pilot program (Faculty Link) run out of OFEW, faculty mentors are available for one-on-one advising to assist faculty in achieving success, satisfaction, and belonging. 

Academic Senate Faculty Ombudspersons (OMB)

Faculty who provide informal advice to faculty and assist in mediating conflicts and disputes.

Academic Senate Panel of Counselors (POC)

Faculty who advise on matters in the jurisdiction of the Committee on Privilege and Tenure.
