Professor of the Emeriti Academy

The Berkeley Emeriti Academy

The Berkeley Emeriti Academy is a  community of UC Berkeley emeriti scholars committed to continuing their contributions to the Berkeley campus and beyond. Retired faculty who chose to participate in the Emeriti Academy can use the honorary title "Professor of the Emeriti Academy." The Academy is a program run through the Berkeley Retirement Center, with support from the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.

The UC Berkeley Emeriti Academy facilitates creative projects and collaborations among emeriti/ae  from different disciplines. Activities can involve, but are not limited to, teaching, mentoring, study panels, or other special projects.

Emeriti Academy Goals:

  • Provide members with a framework and support for collaborative work on projects that benefit the campus and community.

  • Sustain a community of members who contribute analytically and creatively throughout retirement.

  • Acknowledge emeriti/ae contributions.

Benefits of Academy Membership:

  • Meet and engage with colleagues with similar analytical interests.

  • Participate in Academy-hosted events (e.g., panel presentations, colloquia, lectures).

  • Receive information about mentoring opportunities with campus programs, groups or individuals.

  • Participate in opportunities for continued engagement and learning.

  • Receive administrative and logistical support for collaborative projects, courses or research.

Note:  The Emeriti Academy Programming board has adopted the term “emeriti” for the name of the Academy to refer to mixed groups of women and men.  Although we recognize that some may interpret the term as referring to men only,  we intend it to be gender-inclusive.
