I am passionate about mentoring junior faculty and graduate students particularly those in underrepresented groups. Issues I bring to that discussion include: how to say no, how to manage relationships, networking, strategizing to get the career outcomes that you want.

Hilary Hoynes studies poverty and inequality and the role of government programs in the wellbeing of low income families with children. Professor Hoynes is particularly interested in how childhood exposure to the social safety net affects their outcomes in adulthood.
