Jill Duerr Berrick

Social Welfare

I love talking with faculty and students about how to maximize joy in their work, how to think strategically about the opportunities available within the academy, and how to position their work to make a difference in the world.

Jill Berrick’s research focuses on the relationship of the state to vulnerable families, particularly those touched by the child welfare system. With a particular interest in foster care and kinship foster care, Berrick’s research has helped to shape important policy changes associated with payment subsidies, services, and supports available to kin and non-kin caregivers, as well as the standards that apply to the care children receive when they may be separated from parents.
