Rental Housing Assistance
We offer assistance in locating rental housing. Our rental housing consultant will provide you with an orientation to the local communities and assist you in identifying listings that might work for you. Please email Becky White firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a time for a Skype chat or a phone conference. Becky knows many local properties managers, and can guide you through the process of finding the right place for you.
In addition, there are a small number of University-operated faculty apartments for rent at the Clark Kerr campus, approximately 1/4 mile southeast of the main campus. Becky can let you know if an apartment is available that meets your needs. These apartments are only offered to ladder-rank faculty at the time of their initial hire. Faculty can remain in one of these apartments for up to two years. The apartments are unfurnished, and the lease agreement is on a month-to-month basis. Regrettably, pets are not permitted in University housing.
UC Office of the President (UCOP) has agreements with a number of moving companies. Many of these companies handle national moves. Please refer to the Berkeley Supply Chain Managment website for the current list of contracted suppliers for moving expenses.
Once you have chosen a vendor, the academic personnel manager in your department or school can assist you in using the online purchasing system called BearBuy to request direct payment to that vendor. If you search "moving services" on BearBuy, you can access the form you will need to complete called Moving Services: Household and Personal Effects.
The Controller's Office website provides detailed instructions for filling out the form, including a list of the expenses that the University will pay for, and a list of costs that are not reimbursable.
