Target of Excellence

The candidate qualifications section provides a departmental assessment of the individual’s excellence in research, teaching, and service, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in those areas.

The justification explains why the individual would be on the short list of top candidates if an open search was conducted.

The justification explains why the individual is on the market for a very limited time period. This criterion is typically met because the individual has an offer from a peer institution in hand.

The justification explains how the individual fits into one of these categories:

an internationally recognized leader in a particular field (e.g., a Nobel Laureate or a Pulitzer Prize winner)

a scholar who is a recognized leader in a new and important field of inquiry (this is distinct from an area that the department currently lacks strength in)

a scholar who provides a rare opportunity to diversify the research portfolio of a unit

a scholar who makes exceptional or extraordinary contributions to diversity and equal opportunity

The justification explains why it is not possible to conduct an open search in which the individual would be an applicant.

The expiration type is permanent.

A signed Authorization of Information Release form is uploaded to the Documentation section.
Spousal/Partner Hire

The candidate qualifications section provides a departmental assessment of the individual’s excellence in research, teaching, and service, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in those areas.

The justification includes the name, department, and JPF or SWR number of the search or waiver for the primary candidate the University is seeking to hire.
